13 Lakh Students start HSC Exam 2024. The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations under 10 education boards begin across the country on Monday amid measures taken to prevent question paper leak in the examinations.

A total of 1,311,457 students started their HSC and equivalent examinations at 2,541 centres in Bangladesh and abroad on Monday.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday that sufficient preparations had been taken to ensure the higher secondary examinations are fair and proper.

The first exam began at 10am, but students were expected to take seats by 9:30am in line with the education ministry’s instructions. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that ‘meaningful’ measures have been taken to ensure a proper test.

During a programme in Chittagong on Sunday, Nahid said: “We have taken stricter measures from the experience we gathered in the past. We can say that we have done everything humanly possible to prevent question leaks. We hope that the test will be held in a proper way.”

The education minister was scheduled to visit Siddheswari Girls’ College and State Minister Kazi Keramat Ali was to visit Govt Alia Madrasa on Monday.

HSC, equivalent exams begin

A total of 1,183,686 candidates sat for HSC and other equivalent examinations last year. This year saw an increase of 127,771 candidates.

A total of 1,092,607 candidates from 8,943 institutions are set to sit for the examinations from eight general education boards while 100,127 students will take their exams under the Madrasa Education Board, 117,754 under the Technical Education Board, and 969 from DIBS.

Among the candidates, 692,730 are male and 618,727 are female.

In addition, 299 students will appear in the exams from seven overseas centres where 159 are male and 140 are female.

A total of 54 tests on 28 subjects will be held in creative method as in the previous year.

The education ministry has stated that all the examinees have been asked to take their seats in the test centres 30 minutes before the HSC exam begin. Questions will be set through a lottery, 25 minutes prior to the test.

The ministry has also said nobody will be allowed to use mobile phones except for the officer-in-charge of centre, who has to use a phone without a camera.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has imposed a ban on the movement of anyone except Higher Secondary Certificate students and exam officials, within 200 yards of test centres.

No scope of HSC Exam question paper leak: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Monday (April 2) that they are taking all possible measures to ensure that no unfair means adopted or question paper gets leaked in examinations.

“There is propaganda about question paper leak of HSC Exam. We are making all-out efforts to combat it.” he said.

Candidates with physical disabilities will receive an additional 20 minutes in the examinations while the examinees with special needs, including those with autism, will get an additional 30 minutes. They can sit for the test with the help of their guardians or teachers.

Candidates with visual impairment, disabilities of the arm and cerebral palsy will be able to take the help of stenographers.

All the examinees have been asked to take their seats in the HSC Exam centres 30 minutes before the examinations begin. The written examinations will continue until May 13 while the practical examinations will be held from May 14 to May 23.
